Polyester Zine’s 3rd Birthday Event, London

Polyester is three and to celebrate the team are hosting a four-day birthday party alongside the release of three limited edition zines. As well as the first look at the issues an exhibition of work from the zine’s three-year history will be on display.

States of America, Photography from the Civil Rights Movement to the Reagan Era
Focusing on a generation of photographers that experimented with innovative approaches to documentary photography – the exhibition features work by Diane Arbus, William Eggleston, Stephen Shore and Garry Winogrand amongst many others. Works explore the tectonic shifts in American society and politics, from the decay of city centres to the decline of industries and the development of mass advertising.

Ai Weiwei, Study of Perspective, 1995-2011

With the support of  Akbank, Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum, Ai Weiwei hosts his first exhibition in Turkey. Showcasing an extensive selection from the artist’s oeuvre alongside new works and wide-ranging production in the medium of porcelain. The exhibition will present a narrative informed by the artist’s life story and his approach to both the tradition of craftsmanship and art history.

Nan Goldin’s The Ballad of Sexual Dependency
For the first time in Italy, The Ballad of Sexual Dependency by the American photographer Nan Goldin (Washington, 1953) will go on display. An autobiographical and universal diary made of images about human beings’ weakness, that tells about life, sex, transgression, drugs, friendship, loneliness. A work in progress that started by early Eighties, today is known as one of the most important artworks of the history of photography.
