In this week’s Neighbourhood Watch, we talk to the Sydney-based motion graphic designer behind the energetic, thought-provoking art on FXAQ27.

Hey Ack, tell us a little bit about yourself, what do you do and why do you do it?
I’m a Graphic Designer from Thailand based in Sydney. There’s a lot of variety in my work – not just illustrator. I’m big on motion design as well. The reason I started in this field is that I feel like there’s all this stuff in me I need to share. I have a lot of things going on in my mind. Most of my work is bright and colourful but the genuine story beneath my art is all about grief, sadness, and sorrow. It heals me in some way. My art helps me to release and express my feelings. I think anyone can relate to this.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I’ve always wanted to be an artist. Art is what I do and what I love. I hope my work can reach more and more people, I hope it can touch people.

How would your friends describe you?
My closest friends will tell you I’m a determined person; that I’m a sensitive fighter. I’m full of emotion and have a complex personality. I’m passionate about my work and it can be seen in all my projects. They’ll probably also say I’m a bit of a weirdo and can be a bit dorky!

What do you believe in?
I believe in “PASSION”. I think passion is the core instinct of being human. I think it’s an even deeper drive for us than love! I think when people have a passion for something, they will do their best and put their heart and soul into it. It’s how I try to approach everything.

If you could change one thing about the fashion industry, what would it be?
Protecting people’s work, their copyright if you like. Their intellectual property.

Who run the world?
I hope it would be Michael Scot but unfortunately, it’s just Ryan the temp. Duhhhhh!

What are you obsessed with right now?
I’m always obsessed with my work… Ever since becoming an artist, I’m obsessed with collecting material to inspire my work. In every activity I do such as watching movies, reading books or listening to music, I try to find something that inspires my passions and then pour it into my art. I’m always seeking an emotional story, one that I can relate to and then convey it in my art. (Apart from that, I would say Miss Milin BNK48 who is famous Idol in Thailand. Hahahhahah)

What are your hopes for the future?
I want to expand my skills and emotional capacity as an artist. I want to be a better artist in every way. I like to think that one day my name, Fxaq27 will be associated with great art. Even more than that, I would like to be an inspiration to others.

What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given?
Never ever give up. Never abandon your dreams. Fight for it. I know It’s sound cliché but It’s true.

Here at Neighbourhood, we believe an editorial platform should be a community, what does the word community mean to you?
That we are all in this together. No matter where you’re from in this great big and yet oh so small world, art will speak to you. It’s a language of peace and love because it speaks to people individually.
